18 May 2004: KWV 10 Year Old Brandy has been judged the Best Potstill Brandy at the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) in London for the fourth consecutive year.
KWV 10 year old brandy received its gold medal in the category "Potstill brandy made from grapes," meaning the best potstill brandy in the world
This year's gold medal announced at the ISC on 18 May 2004 during the London International Wine & Spirits Fair, follows on last year's gold medal for the same brandy. This also means that it is the fifth time that the KWV 10 Year Old Brandy has been judged "The World’s Best Brandy."

This most recent award attests to the quality of this premium product that has been produced by KWV since 1936. It is a double distilled potstill brandy that has been matured for ten years in selected small French oak barrels.
KWV 10 Year Old Brandy has also received gold medals at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in London in 1981, 1983 and 1991.
This year a record number of entries was received by the ISC making this achievement even more notable.
Kobus Gelderblom, KWV's Brandy Expert, is delighted with the brandy's accolade. "I am particularly delighted that KWV 10 Year Old achieved this success again this year, as the competition was very strong and the overall quality of the brandies was very high.
"My challenge is to see for how many years I can consistently produce an excellent quality KWV 10 Year Old. It is not easy to be awarded a medal in the ISC and the brandy has to be outstanding to garner one. I also think that the timing of this award is good as it coincides with our entry onto the South African market and proves to these new consumers the quality of this product."
